Gracious mein Herr, but you outdo yourself. A thoroughly incredible story! Might it not be more plausible to suppose that you and Cadwalliter, both having been servicemen at some time or another, rather thought it might be amusing to hunt snipe with pistols? But then, it does have its merits-- explaining our peculiar and secretive bahaviour being one of the larger of them. I am unsure of the various intricacies surrounding duelling and its illegality on these isles. Indeed I was not certain of its illegality; perhaps it is simply not the done thing? I can certainly be convincingly nervous and overwrought. I could not really be convincingly otherwise, however. Should it come out, and if to it you were to confess, it would no doubt incur a large fine upon you and Cadwalliter, and possibly gaol for one or both of you. While certainly a temporary sort of thing, gaols being as they are not quite adequate for the contanment of such as any of ourselves, it would certainly be mightily embarassing and a detriment to your reputations; is this worthwhile? Perhaps though if you were to evidence genuine remorse over the ridiculous eventualities arising from the rigid cat in the soup prank, entailing great personal hazard and possible injury to both of your families, the authorities in question might towards leniency be inclined. Please don't ask me to vouch for Cadwalliter's strength of character; as I have told you before, I am a wretched liar. Am I really so manipulative at times, or do you say this to make better the story? I suppose I might actually be said to have in fact jumped from the train. That would easily explain my state, when you and Cadwalliter are the only parties for whose injury accounting can be made. I have, of course, jumped from trains before, but they move rather a bit more quickly here than I am used to their moving. Was the fire from the train station visible? If not, or if questionably, we might say that we did not know it burned. It could easily have been anything else burning also. I don't think we have to mention the rabbi. Have you to Flitworth these things mentioned? Stoatley too will be interested and should be able to provide some insights-- perhaps if you could forward past correspondence to him it would be a good thing.
