My friends,

Well, I might be prepared to endure some enquiries before deciding for sure to flee the country, but I still think we should go with the duelling story, as this is most likely to deter the police from looking further, give them something worthwhile to chew on as it were. I think the creative efforts of the H&FCZS have been most creditable in this regard, but I fear that most of us are sadly unfamiliar with the fine art of covering up murder.

I also wonder how well Mr. Tremaine will hold up under questioning, certainly people may quickly believe him capable of almost any error, and I also suspect that if the truth came out from him alone then that might be sufficient for the police to be convinced of our innocence. I'm sure Mr. Tremaine would come to no harm in the long run, as Dr. Cadwalliter's brother Bertram is sure to take special care of him.
